An AMI project consisting of 50,000 gas meters was supplied during 2009 to the Turkish company Aksa for installation in the Turkish northwestern city Bandirma.
Prior to this order a pilot of 39 smart GTR end nodes was connected with 257 gas meters in a multi-channel configuration. External sensors were externally mounted on the gas meters to enable interface with the GTR devices.
The system was based on a two way LV powerline network, linking the meters to the DCU regional concentrator, which was equipped with a GSM for data transfer to the Scroll™ MDM central operation system.
The pilot ran for 18 months. Aksa's project engineer said: "We received data from all 39 of the installed GTRs. We checked the transferred data against the actual meter readings, and the GTR data fully corresponded to the readings. After 1.5 years of operation we can say that the system has proven itself."
